Here's one of a handful of songs featured in my GMD fanfiction, "The Village Of Fear". This song (performed by my character Jarona Thrussel) was parodied off of the Earth, Wind, & Fire classic, "That's The Way Of The World", & (for the purposes of my story) heavily-rewritten to reflect the teachings of Jesus Christ, as recorded in the Gospels.
Believe it or not, my idea to use this song in "The Village Of Fear", came from watching videos taken at Jonestown, Guyana, on the night before the tragic massacre; one of the videos featured a young woman singing "That's The Way Of The World". As it turned out, that very woman came to be the primary character model for Jarona Thrussel, & I thought it would be fitting if Jarona performed a rendition of the same song she did. Hence, I came up with this lovely gem of a parody.
Man, it's really amazing where you can find inspiration for stuff, sometimes!
I never cease to be astounded that my story, "The Village Of Fear"--a Disney-oriented fanfiction!--could be inspired by Jim Jones & the Peoples Temple, the Jonestown massacre, the Waco siege, the Buddhist monk immolations in Vietnam, the civil-rights movement, Guyanese history, British colonialism, Victorian history, & the works of Rudyard Kipling...
(Perhaps, I should lay off the biography, history, & crime shows for a while...
Well, anyway, what do you think of the song?
Do tell me your thoughts!
